“Success breeds complacency. Complacency breeds failure. Only the paranoid survive” – Andy Grove
It’s easy to be complacent when you are riding the wave of success. You may find yourself thinking “That can wait until tomorrow” or “I can leave the office a little earlier this week”. Just remember, things won’t always be so rosy.
All jobs, including Recruitment, are made up of peaks and troughs. Some weeks you’ll feel like you’re working your butt off for nothing, only to reap the rewards a couple of weeks down the line. This is when it is most important to maintain that high level of work standards to ensure you have as much rolling over as possible for when it inevitably becomes quiet again. I’m not suggesting you work yourself in to an early grave. By all means, give yourself some breathing space, cut yourself some slack, these things are important. But whatever you do, don’t slack off just because things are going well. This will only cause you more stress and frustration in the future.
It’s swings and roundabouts!
